先生の紹介
私は2000年よりクムフラJohnny LumHoの元に入門し、アンクルジョニーが2022年に天に召されるまで生徒として学ばせてもらいました。ハワイ島ヒロへ移住しハラウ オ カウア カニ レフアで踊りハワイ島の自然やアンクルの友人達の古い話を聞かせてもらい多くのフラの経験をさせてもらいました。アンクルジョニーはMānaleoである母Tūtū Manaona、そして1950年代60年代の“Backyard Music”の音楽家達の影響を受けその才能を開花させました。1971年地元ヒロで始まったメリモナークフェスティバルでは第1回目から出場し続けた最後のクムとして2022年に一つの時代の幕を閉じました。私はアンクルジョニーの創作活動を体験して風土を大切にしたメレに対する姿勢を学ばせてもらいました。彼の教え受け継ぎそしてこれからも生徒達と共に学び続ける機会を与えてもらえた事を光栄に感じています。
I’ve been a haumana of Kumu Hula Johnny LumHo from 2000, til his passing 2022. I had the opportunity to live in Hilo and learn from him for years. He shared many moʻolelo about nature and people surrounding him or old times, and gave me many opportunities to have experiences of hula. His mother known as mānaleo Tūtū Manoanoa influenced his hula, and musicians/entertainers from Hilo and Kalapana or Kāʻu in 1950’s and 60’s “Backyard music”built his music style. Through the process of his creating, I learned mele or the words held the values to Hawaiian people, which we need to respect. I’m honored to be able to continue to learn what he taught me with my students. Mahalo
ハーラウの紹介
私たちハーラウ・オ・ナープア・アラ・オナオナは2002年アンクルジョニーラムホーのサポートの元hālau O Ka Ua Kani Lehuaの姉妹校として開校し、現在東京都恵比寿と神奈川県逗子で活動しています。光栄にもアンクルジョニーの教えでもある”1つのファミリー“として現在幅広い世代の生徒達と巡り会えた事に感謝します。私達は2年に一度アンクルジョニーが許可してくれた大会に出場し、各世代の生徒達が彼のフラのアートとハワイの文化やスピリットを学ぶ時間を多く取れる機会にしています。
当時10人の生徒(友人)と私に”Hālau O Nā Pua ʻAla Onaona(芳しい花達のフラスクール)という美しいスクール名を下さった時、“この名前はシンプルだけど美しい。その様なスクール/フラであるように“ と説明してくれました。アンクルジョニーは私達が深い信仰を持ち続けられる様に常に力を注いでくれました。私達はフラだけでなく彼の人生のʻikeも学び続ける機会を持っていきたいと思っています。
Our hālau started in 2002 under the support of kumu hula Johnny LumHo as a sister hālau of Hālau O Ka Ua Kani Lehua. Today, we have 2 places of our studio, one is in Ebisu, Tokyo and the other is in Zushi, Kanagawa prefecture. Weʻre blessed with haumāna from all generations from Keiki to Tūtū, so we work “As a family” uncle Johnny would teach us. When he named my 10 students/friends group Hālau O Na Pua ʻAla Onaona 23years ago, he explained to me “ This name is simple but beautiful, you should be like that”. He poured into us the foundation of having great faith, and we’re humbled to have the opportunity to continue to share what he has taught us, not only hula but his ʻike on life. Mahalo

クムフラRobert Uluwehi Cazimeroさん率いるHālau Nā Kamalei Līlīlehua 50周年記念に心よりお祝い申し上げます。そしてパンパシフィックのご復活心よりお慶び申し上げます。この歴史的な時間を多くのハーラウや先生方、PPPAのメンバーの皆様と共に祝福できる事をとても光栄に感じます。1990年代に初めて鎌倉芸術館でPPE(旧名)を拝見した時の事が今でも目を閉じると回想されます。カーテンが上がると同時に“Destiny Paradise”が演奏され、エイミーハナイアリイ、アンクルマヒビーマーの共演とピカケレイとティリーフの香りに癒された貴重な思い出です。この場を借りて私をフラの世界に導いて下さり、PPEの様な素晴らしい舞台に巡り合わせて下さった私の日本の先生、ケイコ寺部先生へ感謝致します。願わくば毎年PPPAの開催を東京にて公演して頂けたらと思います。HideさんMasaくんマハロ！
Warmest Congratulations on the 50th Anniverdary of Hālau O Nā Kamalei Līlīlehua under the direction of Kumu Robert Uluwehi Cazimero.
Congratulations from our heart for the revive of PPPA 2025. We’re very honor to celebrate this historical moment with all of PPPA crews and many hālau and kumu. Kumu uncle Robert and his hālau with PPE(the former name)have been memorial from 1990’s, my first time to watch in Kamakura. Uncle Mahi Beamer and Amy Hanaialii joined PPE together. I sometimes reminisce the moment when Cazimero Brothers were performing “Desitination Paradise”with the rising curtain, the aromatic scent of Pīkake and lāʻi from the stage. I would like to tell my lifetime gratitude to my first hula teacher, Keiko Terabe sensei who guided me to hula world and gave wonderful opportunities to meet like PPE in my beginning of hula life. With humble wishing, PPPA be held every year here in Tokyo. Mahalo, Hide&Masa!
